About This Property

58 acres of hardwood trees bordered by the North Anna River, 50 acre corn or soy bean field, and 2 creeks. There are 1 1/4 miles of trails cut through the woods. Species include deer, bear, coyote, bobcat, fox, turkey, quail, grouse, and ticks. There is currently an albino buck on the property- he is NOT to be harvested. The bear has not be seen or captured by game cam, but evidence including paw prints and scat have been seen. IMPORTANT, the property is on Horseshoe Bend Rd in Ruther Glen (Caroline Co.). Some GPS units will direct you to Horseshoe Bend Dr. in Bumpass VA (near lake Anna). This is NOT the address. Outdoor Access and/or landowner will confirm directions upon booking. UPDATE: As of 11 November, it appears that the albino deer has been taken by a young hunter about 9 - 12 years old a few miles from my property. This is based on a Facebook photo shared by neighbors.

The North Anna River is approximately 40 - 50 feet across and knee to waist deep, with occasional deeper holes. If it has not rained in a few days, the water will be crystal clear. It can be waded without much difficulty. Access involves navigating mildly steep banks. Property Rules

Specific Landowner Restrictions: Landowner does not allow the following firearms on this property: Rifle. Follow applicable laws and regulations.
The albino white tail is NOT to be harvested. Absolutely no fires. No dogs. The property is located in Caroline County which at this time is a NO RIFLE county. All DGIF regulations must be obeyed. Please be aware of the house and barn location when you enter the woods. If you do book a day, we will be glad to walk the property with you before hand, as long as the schedule allows.

The 1 1/4 mile trail generally follows the perimeter of the property, and is marked with orange survey tape. If you enter the trail from the barn, or from the parallel trail nearer the field, and proceed clockwise around the property, the border ribbons will always be on your right.

Parking & Access

It is one mile from the state road on the gravel driveway to my house and barn. Please park to the right of the barn in front of the red trailer and the gravel pile. Trail begins just to the right of the barn. Once you leave the state road and enter the gravel driveway (Horseshoe Bend Rd) it is 3/4 mile to the beginning of the property (90 degree right turn) and then 1/4 mile to parking.
